Unique cards featuring 19th century characters
with modern sensibilities.
Sure, it was an era of good manners, good breeding and unyielding good taste. Underneath all the etiquette (not to mention all those clothes), what might they have really been thinking? Why do their portraits make them look so, shall we say, serious?
Okay, okay, we know why they're not smiling. They had to sit perfectly still - sometimes for as long as an hour- so the photographer could capture the clearest image. You try to smile that long!
So, we've imagined them having a few random (and sometimes randy) thoughts while not grinning and bearing it.
Our gift box set of twelve different 5" x 7" cards are printed on glossy stock that helps to mimic the look of the original "tin type" photographs. Each card features a full image of the photo, including a hint of the hand coloring and the detail of the original paper frames. (Similar to the image on the left.) The inside message is printed at the top of the page giving you plenty of space to use these as everyday note cards for people who enjoy your sophisticated and slightly wicked sense of humor. If you'd like twelve of the same card just let us know which one my typing the names in the "ordering instruction" box on the shopping cart page.
Between e-mails, instant messages and twitters, sometimes it's just nice to send a card. Say "Happy Birthday," "Congratulations," or "Thinking of You" in a whole new old-fashioned way.
